Front row set for 62nd World Championship
EAGLE RIVER — The top 10 drivers battling for the 62nd World Championship Snowmobile Derby title have been determined.
Following his win at the culmination of Friday Night Thunder in the Sweet 16 Formula III race, Blaine Stephenson (No. 102, Polaris) of Hutchinson, Minn., will start on the pole. Following him will be semifinal heat winners Dustin Schwandt (No. 326, Arctic Cat) of Fox Lake, Wisc., Matt Goede (No. 28, Ski-Doo) of New Germany, Minn., and Zach Dewald (No. 57, Polaris) of Au Gres, Mich.
Also making the front row by finishing in the top three of the semi-finals were Tanner Foss of Middleriver, Minn., Joey Burch of Mount Pleasant, Mich., Reed Klinger of Athens, Wisc., Andy Shoemaker of Pinconning, Mich., Gunnar Sterne of Hampshire, Ill., and Dakota Harris of Morely, Mich.
Those drivers who didn’t make the field in today’s semi-final heats will take part in the last chance qualifier where the top two from that race Sunday morning will start on the back row of the world championship race set for 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
